200tdi Head gasket.....I think. "HEP"

Can any one help or advice.
When my 200Tdi is running it is making a strange noise at the back of the head in front of the bulk head. when I placed my hand there you can feel it blowing, and the oil is hot at the point I think its leaking from. So I think it is the head gasket

.

The Disco is running fine not over heating or anything else.
Is this an easy job that I could do? Is it cheap or expensive some guide lines would be good so I don't get ripped off.
Or does any one know of some one who could fix it in the Oxford area
It is my daily car so can't afford for it to be off the road to long.

Any help, info and links etc would be great. Just when it's starting to come together..

it does sound like head gasket they are a simple engine design and s an easy enough job to do

Have a look at doing it yourself, £15 for the gasket and thats it, it really is a very simple engine and ideal to learn on as you dont need to worry about timing e.t.c.

Me and a mate (nick2303) did mine not a hard job found is satisfing doing it your self just got head gasket set don't skim my head just give it a good clean good as new

if its flat and unmarked best left as is ,if marked or not too warped obviously

I wouldn't bother, not unless its been overheated, it sounds like the gaskets given up and not that the heads warped...

Ok guys sounds like it is a straight forward job, thanks for the feed back.

From what I can see between 4 and 3 cylinders (I hope number 4 is the one closest to the bulk head) the gasket has 3 holes, so that tells me which one it is. I think a new set of head bolts as well might be any idea.

Has any one got any good guides to follow or is haynes ok.

haynes is good for torque settings thats wot i used mate

you dont need an angle guage as 60 degrees is one bolt flat so a good marker pen is useful when doing the bolt tightening

Thanks guys. Just payed £68 for gasket set, head bolt set, and some swivel seal sets for the front hubs. I'm going to do the head myself.

Ow yes the gasket had gone, got some craking photos. can not make my mind up if the head is warped or not so going to get it checked, then possible skim.

The injectors where solid with carbon. But did come out in the end.

One issue does the rockers tube have a locator at the back of the head. To hold the tube in place.

Can any one help .

I have just done my head gasket and it has gone ok till I fitted the rocker cover and it looks like the centre bolt has pulled the threads.

So I'm looking for a helicoil insert for the centre rocker shaft securing bolt.

What size and a good place to but it from.

m8 x 1.25 google recoil kit may be cheaper than helicoil and quite popular

Thats great is that the bit which goes into the head. As thats the bit the threads have gone on.
