200tdi gearbox

hi all I've got a 200 tdi gearbox out of a disco and was wondering would in go striate into my 200tdi defender

no its longer and has gear stick at the rear of box not front like defender ,but people do fit them after some modification

ok cheers for that I take it the transfer box is not the same aswell

it will fit but high gear is slightly taller better for motorway not so for towing heavy loads, to fit it you need to swap hand brake cable assembly from your box to it ,require 2 8mm holes tapping in rear of speedo housing

I am replying because you have the gearbox allready and presumably want to use it?.The Disco gear box has a bell housing 5.5" longer than the defenders. The output shaft is 5.5" longer as well. I used a disco engine and a modified gearbox in mt series3. It can be made to fit and if you are interested in some more details I can respond by private message only. Chris.
