Hi Guys
I have a discovery 200 TDI mark 1
I had a whining front diff 24 spline job, so sent it away for new set of bearings, got it back put it all back together, didn’t even get to the end of my road, very loud grinding noise.
Whipped the front prop off, jacked the old bus up and spun the wheel by hand the flange is moving in and out, but there is no movement when you try to wiggle it by hand.
Took the flange off, seal destroyed and flange has been rubbing on the diff housing,
But the taper bearings are seated ok from what I can see, and the spacer was in the right place.

any pics ,obviously someones either not fitted genuine bearings,( apart from non genuine been often very poor pattern they never shim up the same as was ), or built and set it incorrectly

Not sure what they did, but I sent the whole lot back to them today,
So they can sort it out,

Yes I agree, I'm not even sure they fitted new bearings judging by the scratching
On the one in the pic.
 
just had a look at the from the back pic it doesnt look to me the inner bearing race is seated into case far enough it should be below surface of inner case not proud as it looks ,that would make flange tighten on case nose as well as putting cw/p out of line considerably
 
I think you could be right, just had a closer look at the pic, didn't notice that
Before.
Thanks I will ring them in the morning and point that out.
