Good morning. Have just installed a 200tdi (K Reg) that has stood well/dry stored but idle for about 15 years into my LR Def 90. All well until we started her (fired on 3rd turn) but is racing at top revs. Suspect its fuel pump throttle. Any bright ideas please before we order a re-conditioned pump ! Thanks.

Tried giving it a few taps with a hammer?
I would be tempted to try it with engine running, and use a piece of plywood to partially blank the turbo air intake to try and keep the revs down for a minute or two to see if it will free up.
You can remove the top of the pump to change the throttle seal, and with the top off it may be possible to see what if anything is seized?

Many thanks Lynall, tried all those good ideas, but to no avail - have ordered a reconditioned pump !

Sometimes you do have to bite the bullet, it hurts but so long as its fixes it, then all is good.
If they dont want the old one back dont throw it, as it will still have a value.
