Hi all, I decided for some reason to take my oil pipes off my defender project today, its a genuine 200tdi engine, and found something that could set me back! I found thick 'clumps' of carbon build-up in the top of my oil pipes where it connects to the oil filter housing. So, anyone know what direction this might put me in? Looks like I'm going to be rebuilding the engine after all...

Cheers. :violent:

If it was mine it would get a half pint of diesel into the existing oil, short run up to temp and another oil change then see how it goes from there.
Might be worth popping the rocker off for a look see, depending what you find maybe drop the sump.

I would buy the cheapest oil i can find and do a few rinse outs as lynall said. After the first one i would add a solvent like Marvel miracle oil or whatever equivelant you guys have.
