anyone else had to change there oil pressure switch on a disco 200 dti engine ?

I`ve had a new one for ages, so while I`m waiting on some parts during my cam belt change, thought it was about time to fit the various new bits and bobs starting with the cursed oil light switch..
I could not get a spanner on it due to the oil cooling pipes coming out pump/filter arrangement, could not seem to got a socket on it either

in one of my tool boxes its got lots of verious sockets/ spanners/ box spanners that my daughter bought me for £8 over a boot sale...hardly any metric sizes at all - no one wanted them :D

I found a box spanner that was a tight fit on the new oil switch, it went in over the old fecked switch, so I then found a little used socket - 1/2 drive, banged it in about 2 or 3 mm, mig welded it around the join, works a treat..

dont do pictures but.
the box spanner is 3 inches long =about 77mm things
the socket I sacrificed was a 3/8W or 7/16bs
all in all its about 4 1/2 inches long, long enough to get a ratchet on the end and works perfectly....

simples - home made tools to be added to the rest I made to do cam belt changes

Oh, by using a box spanner, its so deep, it does`nt damage the spade terminal end on the new switch, where normal length sockets just might....

Yeah, it's a PITA. I had to do mine the other day with waterpump pliers. Seems an odd design. It's nothing to do with the disco engine though, my oil filter assembly is from a 2.5D NA. It's the oil cooler pipes that are a pain. I don't really want to mess with them, but I think I'll have to disconnect one just to make sure the pressure switch is properly nipped up.

Sure I just used an ordinary spanner and dont remember it being very difficult?
24mm Iirc
