OK, so this isn't an advert, but it may turn into one.
I have had a mates TD6 on my drive for a while after he lost his only key and i decided to help before the rozzers towed it away and turned it into baked bean cans, some of you may have seen my threads on FFRR, it currently stands us in £1000 to get it back alive again and a few other bits.

It is now mobilised, and i have put a new MOT on it and done some other things that needed doing but there are a few bits that need tidying up.

This may be a chance to get to get to know it and you might know somebody who wants to buy it, or the owner may want it back but if it does go up for sale, this will be a good place to point a prospective buyer to.

The only history I have is that he bought it for £8000 earlier year and he had it serviced.
He got a job with the use of a company van and hasn't touched it since.

I intend to short term insure it and then take it for a good run or runs to determine it's condition from there, but the small amount of driving i have done in it so far it has seemed really tight and before he lost lost the key, the only fault it had was an injector fault which I now know was the wiring loom.

I have taken a few phots and that is where I am currently, stand by for more detail......

It's not costing me anything at the moment so it is really cheap :)
Talking of fuel, i put some premium unleaded in my 4.4 the other day and was pleased to find it was exactly the same price as the normal unleaded- I put in £60 of normal last time and this time I treated it to premium and put in £60 again....

Why Somebody would de-badge 'Range Rover' off the bonnet and tailgate is way beyond me.....???

The silver is nice but I'm Not a fan of the grill, side vents or black wheels.

I prefer the one behind it in the first picture.... And most of it is out of sight :D. ;)

Ant,

You must have misread mate....it's a TD6 not a V8 !!!!! ;)
Thats what the other half said!!!

I appreciate it has 2 few cylinders - they aren't in a Vee - and it has a 'weak' gearbox....but it also has a heater, electric seats, an automatic gearbox and its Range Rover.....all the things the 110 hasn't or isn't!!!

Well i don't care who buys the ****er, buy it and then you can do what you want to it!!
If the badges give you a hard on, buy it and put them back on :D
All i know is it is on my drive and has been for a while.
And agreed, my side door needs some attention, it's my back door i am worried about when Alan is around... he just doesn't seem to care any more....

Ok, so i have taxed the tratter for 6 months and insured it so i can use it for a bit.
It does drive really tight and handles great but i have a slight issue if somebody has any ideas?

I find it has a little lag at times when i am accelerating up to motorway speeds and it is coming back with a turbo fault.

P0046 - variable nozzle turbo negative deviation (intermittent)

if i can resolve this little issue i may even sell the v8

it also has a new battery in my garage and a new injector loom on the way although the injector faults have not returned since i cleaned the connections

Not 100% sure but it's likely the variable mechanism is coked up.

Some say, strip it and clean with oven cleaner, others say 'exercise' it, by plonking it in 3rd or 4th and finding the point of boost, backing off and on in an attempt to free it.

Never had to do it (yet) so cannot give details.

I believe it works like a crude camera shutter, only with parabolic arms, something like a dozen or more.

Ha, maybe I dreamt it!

Cheers , is it actually part of the turbo?
I have read something about cleaning it, it does seem intermittent as it goes well and then holds back, if I keep the revs lower and let it build up it pulls well, it’s only if I accelerate hard it gets a little indecisive at high revs.
The turbo pipe feels like it moves quite a bit so I’ll check that as well.
It’s liike I had one expensive mistress that I didn’t need and now I’ve got another and I can’t really afford either :)

Well this is basically free, but it's on the hot side.
No experience of the TD6.
Do check all boost hoses for splits.

Vid isn't a TD6, but it will be in the same vane,(pun intended)

Cheers mate , I’ll check my hoses and go from there, it’s got a new battery and injector loom to go on as well so it’s starting to bleed me already but if I sell it I want to know it’s ok , well as ok as they ever are :)

Put the new battery on today and it made a massive difference to the cranking speed so the old battery was definitely shot. Still waiting on injector loom.
Did some in depth live diagnostics and the turbo seems to be making pressure at idle of 1 bar and 2.5 bar when under load which the Faultmate says should be 1 bar and 2.6 bar but that doiesnt mean I have air flow just pressure I guess which still points to the actuator and variable thingy.
The low pressure fuel supply seems a little low and drops off as I accelerate, Faultmate says 4.2 bar at idle and I have 4 bar which drops to 3.5 under acceleration.

Next step is loom and investigate turbo pipes and actuator.

every breather taken in its leather bound interior captures its "buy me" hormones into your lungs.........
the slow process of the purchase will be more and more a feeling and less a thought..

she's got you....

and you her, under your skin:p
