"The guy at BMW did say the later model freelanders have already been converted but didn't say from what year."

Never heard that one, my wife's TD4 was one of the very last produced and had the standard type from new.

Not sure how we can expect a BMW storesman to know anything about Land Rovers. My local BMW dealer was aware of the mod but that was the limit of his knowledge.

Just about to fit the BMW oil separator to my 2005 Td4.

Referencing the Haynes Manual (Section 4C.3), it refers to removal of the 'depression limiting valve, complete with filter'. Is this the part that requires removal, to enable the oil separator to be fitted in place of the filter?

Thanks in advance.

yes

you might have to file or cut a slot in the bmw replacement part
( i used a small needle file )

If the depression limiting valve is the bit of black plastic over the top of the old style filter then yes it must be left off, if its the other bit that has a diaphragm in it then no it must be left in.

Hi,does anyone know the bmw part number for the pcv valve unit(not the cyclone separator),cheers

Just done mine today. Was I meant to pull and throw away the loo roller filter and plastic clip, then use the circular seal, push it over the whole where the filter fitted too then clip in the new seperator? I've replaced the seals too the one with the tags on it. That all sound correct?

Yep sounds about right to me.
