Hey All

I have a UK version Freelander (2005 Mk1 TD4) with several drive train issues. One of the bolts broke off the flywheel and rattled around in the transmission evidently causing the clutch to fail.

Additionally the IRD is not functioning properly but has not been opened.

Question: are any of the drivetrain components (namely the Trans, IRD and rear diff) from the US versions of this vehicle compatible?

The vehicle is in a somewhat remote place in the Bahamas and I'm trying to determine if parts of US cars can be used or if I need to source replacements from the UK?

Thank you for any input or help!
Brad

I think only the V6 was sold in the US and they were only automatic.

As you say clutch, that means its not a V6 so was never sold in USA.

The V6 diff will be identical, and the V6 IRD can likely be used, although they were different part numbers I believe. The box though obviously can not.

Understood and agreed, the US market only got the petrol v6 version. The vehicle has an automatic gearbox and the clutch comment was from the mechanic who determined the clutch was not functioning properly (not really sure how he determined). Because he likely will not be able to do any type of rebuild on the auto gearbox I've been looking for a decent used one. He is able to swap one out, but that is likely the extent of it.

If anyone has a good source in the UK for a decent used auto gearbox, would be welcome.

The auto box doesn't have a clutch as such, at least not one where a bolt can come out and rattle about. It does have common issues like reverse brake bands failing, and cracking pistons.

The gearbox has to come off a TD4, as a V6 box is different.
