L322 2004 Vogue Rear Wiper fault

Hi guys I have a problem with the rear wiper on my car, when I click the wiper it will do the first wipe but on the return back to the original position under the spoiler the wiper is getting stuck roughly half way (5 o clock) across. This is accompanied by a vibrating sound (similar to the noise made by the air suspension compressor).

If I get out of the car and have someone else click the wiper stick I can feel the wiper come up against resistance at 5 o clock but once I help it past that bit it continues back up to the top behind the spoiler by itself.

Does anyone have any idea on what the issue is and how I should go about fixing it?

The internal gear is nylon and strips easily.....on the downward stroke gravity helps....on the upward stroke gravity is a bitch.....

Only real choice is replacement motor unit....
