If so where can i get the harness. Thanks Dan

Yes you need the loom (3 types available depending on your sockets/plugs) and yes you need the ECU (deactivates the rear parking sensors, locks the suspension height, etc.)

but no, you don't need it 'activating' - just plug it in and it all works. No trip to the dealer required.

I asked a authorised dealer and they said I needed it to be plugged to the diagnostic, do u know what loom I need? Cheers dan

Okay. Which of the three harnesses you need depends on which sockets you want i.e. which plugs you have on your trailer. The choices are :

1) 12N 7 pin (just powers lights on a trailer - older type)
2) 12N/12S 7 pin (e.g. caravan - allows you to use car battery to power fridge, etc.)
3) 13 pin (latest European type)

You buy them from a Land Rover dealer or you may get them cheaper online. Just type the part number for the one you're after into Google to check. The part numbers are given here : 2005 3.0td6 tow bar
