2004 Freelander 5DR - Tailgate handle stuck.

Hi Guys,

My fathers 2004 freelander has a stuck tailgate release handle, and nothing we have tried will open it, after closing the tailgate last week the release handle seemed to stick solid in the depressed position. Does anyone have any ideas of a fix for this? the tailgate window is still fully operational so does not seem to be a failed regulator there.

usually, the little plastic pivot points in the handle snap. with a bit of time and care they can be repaired with superglue, just unbolt the handle 3 or 4 screws then pulls away from vehicle, unplug cable then dismantle it on a table workbench. You will spot the bit that is broken hopefully.
