It has factory fitted DMF and my advice is to keep it so... i've had solid on mine and couldn't bear more than 2 weeks the sound and vibrations... it acts as a damper for torque shocks there dont mess with it, if it's fubar'd bite the bullet, put a new valeo one and you are covered for few years

Since big 4 cylinder Diesels are known to kill them, and 6s tend to be fine, where does a 5 come in to it?

any number of cylinders over 4 is smoother ,4 cylinder has a power stroke every 180 degrees ,5 cylinder every 144 degrees so engines power strokes overlap more so with 6 ,4 cylinder is far cheaper to produce and shorter, so 5 is much better than 4 but not as good as 6

Useful to hear these experiences. I was wondering whether to transfer to a solid flywheel next time my clutch needs replacing. Maybe I won't now!
