2003 Range Rover L322 Towing Electrics

I am new to this forum and have recently bought a 2003 R/R L322 V8 Auto

I have fitted a tow bar onto the vehicle (no problem) but now want to fit electrics (12n 7 Pin) so that I can tow my trailer.

The tow bar I bought came with 7 pin socket and universal electics box etc, but on reading some of the posts on this site advice is not to fit universal as some functions on vehicle wont work and apparently you get lots of error messages on computer display?

I think I need VUH000030 12 Towing Socket with Electrics plus YWC000840 Electronic module (might also need a additional relay, not really sure on this one).

My problem is that despite being listed in stock at places like John Craddock of Stafford, when I've checked the have them before ordering it turns out they don't. Same thing at several other firms that have advertised as having stock of the parts I think I need !!!!

Can anyone help please?

yea you need the right kit mate.

not sure what exacly as mine came allready fitted with a towbar
but the electrics are all interlinked as when you plug in the trailer the car pops up on the dash saying "trailer connected" or something like that and the suspension is locked into normal mode so you cant adjust it while towing.

otherwise yes i think you will get all sorts of problems if you just tap off the existing lighting cables.

no probs mate.

your better off getting the 13 pin kit with the smaller pins and you can just buy an adapter for standard 12n plugs- that way if you ever upgrade or need the new type plug then you wont need to change anything.

thats how mine has been done anyway
