2003 freelander wont start cannot hear fuel pump running

Freelander sometimes wont start leaving it for a while and it does but now wont start at all cannot hear pump whirring noise

Dont forget to tell them the build year of yer Freelander. Some years have 2 pumps and others 1. Depends on the engine anorl.

Tapping the pump can sometimes get them working. Temp fix to prove its the pump.
