2002 TD5 Engine clatter

Evening all,

2002 TD5 - 55,000 miles approx

Any ideas on what might be clattering (sounds similar to tappet clatter) on an 02 TD5 Defender?
The valves have been lashed whilst searching for the source and has made no difference.
The vehicle is about to go on a 24,000 mile jolly around Africa so I’m a little concerned.

Recent works:-
Filters and Oil Change - Castrol Edge 5W30
New turbo & hoses
EGR delete
Exhaust manifold skim and de-web

The clatter may have been present prior to the works and only now exposed because the manifold is no longer squeeling like a haunted chicken.
The turbo died when it chewed on some debris that looked like the top of a hydraulic lifter. All lifters are in good order and I still have no idea what it was or where it came from.

Have a try putting it on you tube and sharing the link , things not posting well on the site as normally

Do they suffer from the loose oil pump bolt issue?

Have a search for noisy TD5 or similar likely popped up before

Is it the same with drive belt removed too ?
