2002 series III over rev!!

Took my RR out this morning. Stopped at some traffic lights and sat on the brake - fortunately! The engine started over revving - foot was NOT on the throttle. I put the car in park and switched the ignition off. It started ok after that and has not happened again - yet - any ideas what this could be??

do you have a throttle cable?if so could be sticky in the outer.I had that prob on my older wagon.

Well, my foot was off the throttle when it happened! Nearly rear ended the car in front!!
