Do you mean the external trim strip? If so yes it's a bugger. I managed to do mine eventually, but I came close to sticking it on with silicone sealant - that might be the way to go. Or go to your local windscreen repair shop and ask for a quote. They should know as it's part of the screen replacement job (although I might be being optimistic here)

yea i'm trying to replace the external trim that runs down the side of the windshield i can't seem to figure out how the hell to get the metal spring clips onto the window frame of the truck, it seems that the door and front quarter panels should come off but that would be an insane design flaw, i bought the truck second hand and i think the windshield was replaced and the installer got as mad as i did and broke the trim trying to put it on. i tried to book an appointment at the rover dealer but can't get in for two weeks and i'm sure its a five minute job that could be squeezed in between jobs

so when i put the trim on the side of the window how did you get the metal clips to clip into the window frame, i can't for the life of me get even close to getting the metal clips close to where they need to go to secure to the window frame

Sorry - I know I did it but can't remember how! I wasn't able to get every clip in but it held for a year until the screen went and I had to get it replaced anyway. The man who did the screen got them back on OK, but I think the original problem (they fell off) was down to a previous screen fitter not doing them properly. Everyone does say it's a b***er of a job. You shouldn't need to remove any other trim though.

thanks for your help, i think i might try a body shop

i've attached photos of the clips i can't attach to the windshield for anyone who may know how to attach them
