Dear Gents,

Can I pick your brains please... sorting out my MOT & have got a couple of issues that I think are connected. Horn won't beep & keeps blowing its 20amp fuse when I tried it & dipped beam (left indicator stork) stays fully illuminated when pushed forward like its supposed to but I can't flash with it in order to give way. I'm bamboozled. I've replaced the left hand indicator stork assembly and put a new horn in it. What next..relay somewhere?

I thought replacing the power steering box was a swine but this has got me!

Any thoughts welcome...& don't say I should cycle to work!

On my 200tdi, then two ore powered through the same fuse, along with the interior lights. If the horn fuse has blown, then the flash and interior lights won’t work. Replace the fuse and try the flash.

Thanks guys...so far still working on it. It's the 20 amp fuse under the seat that keeps blowing as soon as horn is pressed. still no joy having swapped the relays round & replace said 20 amp fuse to test horn & flasher.

...am thinking of getting a skateboard & growing my hair long :-/

1 is it a 20 fuse passenger fuse box or a 30 fuse ,the fuse you are blowing is it fuse 3 to column
2 does the fuse blow before the horn button is pushed or after, try it without horn connected
3 does it have twin horns fitted or just the one that you changed have you checked the wiring and its connector to the horn for corrosion or damage
does the flash work before trying horn

Hey Mystery, Thanks ever so much for your input. I'll do my best to answer your questions. 1, Fuse box located under driver's seat & has 7 (twin blade) fuses & 6 screwed down box fuses. Yes its the third one in the column (yellow 20 amp). 2, Just checked..the fuse doesn't blow when you dip the flasher beam but as soon as you press the horn it blows. 3, No twin horns or fancy lighting just single horn factory set up. I am trying to locate the rear windscreen heater relay you spoke of?

I'd appreciate your thoughts pal

Hello Mystery,

20 amp fuse under seat still blowing even when horn is disconnected from the wiring on the horn. Does that narrow it down? Just found a 10 amp fuse blown in the fuses box behind the gear stick. Numbered 27 on the diagram..think its alarm/immobiliser but alarm/immobiliser still working fine. Brown relay beneath could be at fault...am also wondering if horn & flasher are on it? Opened up said relay, receptors not stuck on or coil not black & no burning smell. Please let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks,

Roy

few items to check you could leave fuse 27 out and leave horn disconnected and see if fuse 3 blows
