Friend of mine is looking at getting his newly acquired 2001 4.0 gas converted. He's spoken to a helpful LPG specialist in Stoke on Trent who has advised to go for the 95 litre tank but he was wondering if anyone has had one sucessfully completed more locally (He's in Tamworth) to a Range Rover as the local LPG specialist has closed down.

He's also wondering if it's worth having "flashlube" fitted while he's at it. ;)

Been searching LPG conversion on here and I've seen mentioned a place in Washwood Heath who were recommended as good converters. Anyone got further details for them or anyone else locally?

Flashlube is the way to go to avoid future valve problems unless you run on petrol for an extended period (say) once a month to lubricate the valves.
Tank capacity depends on the manufacturer. I have found that most 95 litre toroidal tanks cause the spare wheel cover to be raised by about 1 inch and that the only tank of that capacity that does not lift the cover is made by Stako. In any case the critical dimension is the height of not more than 270mm. I can recommend an installer in North Wales but do not know any in or around Tamworth

I've found a gem in Dronfield, This is between Sheffield and Chesterfield but I do'nt know how far you're willing to travel. He's been in the LPG for a long time. Mine was already converted but he has been very helpful with repairs and and I would recomend him.

I had my 2000 4.6 Vogue converted by Profess Autogas last November after a lot of online research. They completed the fit in 1 day (8am to 8pm) and provided a free courtesy car.

Although they're 140 miles from you, at £1400 for the V8 conversion, it's likely that this will still be cheaper than most. They also include a 2 year warranty.

What about Hi Range at Alrewas on the A38 ?

Not sure they do LPG conversion's though. He's looking at a place in Stoke on Trent and a place in Minworth though he'd like some other options and the possibility of seeing a converted one similar to his.

Been a bit since I last heard about Hi Range so I may be out of touch.
Jameson 4X4 in Summer Lane used to do them and there is not much that they don't know about the P38 or L322, may be another avenue.

Not used them for a conversion myself but how about Hylton Auto Gas just off J11 off the M6. I had my P38 converted at a place in Tamworth but they have closed now. Running a 95l tank in the spare wheel well on mine its been fine so far.
