Hi everyone I just picked up my first Freelander on Saturday and after a good long drive on Sunday I like it :)
I am looking to maintain and improve the vehicle as best I can and first Item on the list is to remove some of the slop in the gear change
now searching through the internet has shown a number of posts regarding fixing PG1 linkage including a repair kit but not a lot about fixing GETRAG linkage how do I tell what type of box is installed on my vehicle please ?

Kind regards

TD4 uses the Getrag box. PG1 is for K and L Series Rover engines.

Whether there's much difference in the linkages, I don't know.

The linkage is very different between gearbox types.
Slop can be removed from the linkage, simply by replacing the whole assembly.
This isn't a cheap replacement though.
There are about 8 ball and socket joints and some bushes too. All are subject to wear over time.

Thank you for the replies here are some images of TD4 GETRAG gear linkages

Looking at the above diagram I suspect 9 is a rubber mount and controls the left / right movement

and the rubber block with two holes on the gear lever controls the fore and aft movement ??
