2000 disco td5 power question. ok it's my first landrover so I'm not sure how they should pull now it starts on the first flick of the key and ticks over fine when driving the throttle is unresponsive for the first 15 mm of pedal travel bugger at junctions. and when driving it accelerates through the rev range as it should but seems to lack any grunt or torque I know it's a heavy car but they way you guys talk they should pull like a train. I unplugged the maf sensor made no difference maybe it's just me expecting too much. oh another problem first thing on a morning the key fob won't unlock the car as soon as I put the key in the driver's door and turn it either way the fob then starts working and works all day after?? any feedback would be welcomed thanks Steve

Our key fob is the same, its probably the receiver, but I'm not really bothered so willmaybe have a look in the summer.

Manual or auto?

Our manual needs throttle and they are very different to normal cars to drive, but you will find it pulls really well between 1800 and 3000, and even uphill giving more throttle will get a response unlike normal cars where they are often just flat. Ours slows a fair bit with 2500 kgs of horses and trailer on the back but I guess that is to be expected!!!!

Is your air filter dirty? My TD5 was more sluggish than my 300tdi when I got it so I was somewhat confused. I checked the air filter and noticed it was really dirty so I replaced it and it made a big difference.

Try turbo waste gate control valve.and check pipes for splits.made huge difference to mine.

Thanks how will I know if it's working doesnt seem to move is the rod suppose to move toward the turbo should it be free when not running ie move it by hand and how far does it normally move? Feels tight atm cannot move by hand

Right guys just to update took out my map sensor was caked thick in black sludge never working, also wastegate was only moving 3 mm or so so sprayed it with lube and managed to get it going seems to run better and the throttle is more responsive, but im sure its still holding back, I did have a look in the red plug on the ecu found it blathered in oil so maybe this is part of my problem
