200 tdi wiring

Hi I have just put the 200 tdi engine in my series 3 which was a 2.25 petrol,
the engine is ok and starts fine. The problem is the wiring everything seems ok when i turn on ignition the cold start light comes on for a few seconds and goes out ok the oil pressure light and charge light come on ok, the engine starts fine and all warning lights go out ok, if i rev it and then turn off ignition the charge warning light comes on again but the engine does not stop I have to remove the connection to the stop solenoid, if i disconnect the charge warning light the engine starts and stops fine, I have swapped the alternator but no change.
There seem to be a live feed to stop solenoid coming from the charge warning light. Its driving me nuts so any help or suggestions would be great thanks

From where did you get the power for the solenoid?

It was the + side of ignition coil a white wire which is spliced in to the glowplug relay also white.

insert a diode in no-charge warning light circuit brown/yellow to stop it feeding back to the fuel solenoid via the no-charge warning lamp as fitted on later 1991-1994 defenders

as you have just fitted a 200 to your series ( a job i am planning to do) did you use the discovery engine mounts or the series?
i have bought an engine from fleabay and it has arrived without any brackets on the block.

use original mounts of your old engine

Use the series engine mounts - but- as you have it in bits replace them with new series engine mounts.

If you really want to use 200tdi mounts though i can sell you a set... mine came with them
