nope, i got a funny look from a local mechanic when i mentioned this. another whos said to be a good land rover mechanic said if i can hear a drop/difference in engine when i slacken injector nut then the injectors are working.

he was a fool then obviously if you slacken injector it wont open ie work so engine runs on 3 , which if engine is only running on 3 that particular not working injector wont alter running as it isnt working anyhow , but a poor running injector causing smoke will then not cause smoke, injectors are 2 stage so can run badly at idle but well at higher revs , id get a compression test to check gaskets not blowing between 2, check theres no air entering pump from filter and if possible try another set of injectors

i have noticed below the head gasket from each corner ( bulkhead side ) about 1 inch in was abit oily/wet looking then from there to front of engine was dry..

the above along with oil behind the engine a sign of head gasket failure?

could be you cant be sure till you get head off and check staining showing were gas/oil is passing, have you had rocker cover off and checked all valves are opening fully

another post.... :D

had someone look at it for me, removed glow plug from the cylinder in question, connected it to a live wire to battery, then earthed and it didnt do anything..

ive ordered glow plugs, see if it helps at all

also checked the turbo. removed hose and said there was alittle play in it

the play in the turbo could be the cause of blue/white smoke when keep the revs at 1500? then clears after 2000

if the blue smoke is caused by turbo, would this also cause blue/white smoke when first started sometimes or after white smoke clears?

removed the pipe you mentioned for a few mins, i kept the revs at 1500 and it was still bluish smoke, no improvment, the pipe was oily and worn, was holed were the jubilee clip goes. am hoping the bluish smoke is related to turbo

ive fitted for new glow plugs, one out of four were working, will see if it makes a difference in morning

edit: when removing the glow plugs, the inside of one came away from the plug housing

another post...

since i fitted new glow plugs, white smoke doesnt seem anywhere as bad, never noticed it today(ill keep watching ) disco is also starting alot better since new plugs were fitted.

its still putting out blue smoke when i hold the revs at 1500 when parked or driving, and clears when revs rise. when driving i notice the blue smoke at low speed/rpm, sometimes its more white with unburnt fuel smell...

no option now, ill remove injectors ( hope they remove ok ) and get them tested, if they are ok then ill go for compression test

thanks for help/replies
