200 tdi smoke

I've put some redex in with the fuel to try treat injectors,it wasn't half bottle to a tank, I just mixed some each time I put fuel in, rough guess. When warmed up, still get white smoke when driving at 1500 but not all the time. How many treatment of redex is good enough?

I would go with sticking injector so a couple of tanks worth of redex and a fuel fillter and maybe lift pump take a look at Fuel Filter & Sedimentor Diesel | Discovery 1 - 1989 to 1999 | Britcar (UK) Ltd for fuel filter and for the lift pump the ebay listed one by bearmach is one I have got that has helped no end with rough start up. my 200 tdi disco used to make a cloud of black and grey smoke on start up but now its a slight grey and a near modern startup

ive changed the oil/filter, fuel filter and cleaned the sedimentor (lots of crap in it ) today.. yet to see if that wll help, ill put more redex and hope for the best

there is a small pipe loose that could be a breather, runs near sedimentor, anyone any ideas what its for, where it should go?

only other thing I've noticed on mine is that I think I have a leaking leak off pipe so clean yours up so they are dry and see if you get any damp ones as they can allow air in the fuel so they will mess with the fuel to air ratio and cause rough running

no they dont , they allow air in to system when engines switched off causing poor starting , air entering before pump will cause poor running as injectors wont open 100% everytime if theres air to squeeze

there is a small pipe free in engine bay, coming from bulkhead area, above oil filter etc another i wasnt sure about..

first disco so ive alot to learn, where is the leak off pipe

anyone any ideas of the pipe loose near the sedimetor, its similar kind of pipe to one loose in bulkhead area

leak off pipe runs between injectors then to rear of pump, you should have to pipes run front top back feed and return you need to ensure feed isnt sucking in air at tank sender , sedimenter and lift pump etc there are many reasons why it can run on 3 till warm head gasket and poor injector been 2

it does have a problem when low in fuel( could be related) when just above red it will only idle not rev.. ive been using quarter marker as empty untill i got it serviced etc, alot of things need to catch up on

ok i stand corrected

no idea what the pipe is near the sedimentor i would go with breather

That pipe is your tank return from the last injector. Mine was off, caused all sorts of starting problems.

the pipe seems to run from rear axle/diff? then is loose near sedimentor...

i lifted the boot carpet and the inspection plate.. the two metal pipes that run from the top of sender look to be sealed with silicon and damp around, ill attach a picture to give you a better idea.

ill also add pictures of the pipe near sedimentor and the in engine bay, if you have any ideas where they go please let me know, hoping to get this old disco running better and in better condition with the hope of passing another mot in november.

edit: ive noticed another loose pipe in engine bay, its same kind pipe as one loose near oil filter and has same kind of bend at the end, cant strech any of the two any further
