200 TDI dash

has anyone on here cut a hole in the dash on 200TDI at the top in the middle in-between the vents the ashtrays are so small i want to fit one that originally was in the centre console on a RRC about 4"x2"x2.5" deep am i only person who finds the originals too

me other idea was that when the new ashtray was shut i could stick me satnav on the lid to avoid the circle on the windscreen and getting glass smashed

Ah did away with me ashtray and stuck a plate over the hole

it's actually a defender dash 200tdi, but just thought ah'd use it for an example

Thas proper posh that it. made of Carbun Fibre as well. I reckon it's so's he knows that the road really is rough, and it's not just his hangover making him roll all over the place.

if someone can tell me if there is no wires or pipes there i could do it without makin amess of the dash but i dont want to cut through the main looms

i think you might struggle to fit a rangerover classic ashtray in there. there is a steel plate behind parts of the 200 dash, i dont think there are any wires directly behind it but just be careful when you are making the hole. what are you thinking of using to cut it out??
