Hi Everyone,
I have a 93 200Tdi which I have just brought and it has an issue with the clutch that doesn't seem to follow the general rule of thumb for a clutch that is going.
The Problem:
The gear change and selection is fine. Very positive and I have no issues getting any gear at anytime.
The clutch pedal has a high biting point. I say high in as much as it is not on the floor.
However the clutch slips occasionally and this seems to be made worse when the clutch is used often within a short space of time.
Today we went green laning around Odiham and in heavy mud and water it was fine. Pulled well up hill but once in town the clutch started slipping when accelerating.
My Thoughts:
I don't feel that it is the clutch itself as the problem seems to be associated with persistant use of the clutch. so I feel it is either slave cylinder not returning fully - if such a problem- or an 'air in the circuit' issue.
If I need a new clutch is it easy to remove the box or better to remove the engine.
Tx guys and I look forward to green laning with some of you in the future. I know some great tracks around Hampshire.
