200 leaking oil ?

right my 200 is leaking oil, i dont know where from though, where do they leak ? would it be sump gtasket ? or would it be crank seal ?

Clean it up, warm it up, have a blurdy look

Hot water in bucket, plenty of fairy and a good stiff brush.
Bit of elbow grease n a blast off with the pressure washer.

Leaking oil. Nothing to worry about everything's workings fine.
A land rovers special way of letting you now its full and ov course leaving its mark.

Sorry but had to be said.

Spray a load of de greaser all over and jet wash off.

well on the dipstick it comes quite high at the mo so not topping it up yet ... yet to degrease to much revision to be done ! reckon i should be ok to keep driving and topping up ?

and could i use silicon instead of buying a sump gasket if its that ?

Is the oil level above the max line??

well its streaky down the stick but possibly, should this matter or will it just burn off ?

You are wiping the dipstick off before checking the level aren't you??

If you are and the level is high - check your coolant................

you reckon my heads gone ? ... no it cant be as i had it skimmed and did it a while back... plus i have been carelessly topping it up as i keep thinking its leaking more than it is ..

Oil must not be above the max mark... search 'diesel runaway' on YouTube
Before you start taking things apart, make sure the breather is clear.

You said the level was high and streaky - look in the expansion tank - takes 30 seconds :doh:

Did ya look in the expansion tank or the filler cap ?

yes both clear not lost any water, i reckon its just i put too much in

can any of you tell me, ever since i put 200 in, when i have been driving and then stop at some lights, after 20 seconds on idle, its coughs as it revs again ? like coughs then fast revs ?... i am running part engine oil and petrol if that helps ? could it be over heating ? cheers

You could be running to much petrol in the mix as you shouldn't more than 10% petrol mix in a diesel
