Hello i have recently heard a friend of mine is putting 275/40/20 on a stock discovery 2 I am unsure these will fit his discovery and I have told him with that size profile I would not be off roading in it incase damaging the rim what are other people thought on off roading on this tyre size it seems abit odd to me.

I'm buy far no expert but he has just brought this discovery and have told him all the little common faults to check like if there is oil in the injector loom replace it and check if it uses any oil or water he doesn't care but the worst thing about it is he is gonna ruin a landrover and that will be another that will get scrapped due to being neglected.

When I first got my discovery I went for a suitable tyre size 235/70/16 I do have mud tyres but I do off road be he think he is gonna be able to handle rocks and mud on them stupid low profiles he doesn't even have a spare 20 inch wheel the spare is a 16 so that wont help the half shafts and diffs if he puts that on it.

indeed a great shame, but the main difference is u have common sense

Alas seen many of the later rangies or discos that have low profiles , can always spot them in car parks and completely ruined but don’t stop there’s they add a body kit as well ,:eek:

Even saw a post the other day about can I drive my Range Rover on its lowest setting , christ almighty

I dont get people these days they just dont understand a landrover is a 4x4 now I'm not saying drive them off road if u dont want to but if landrover wanted 20 inch low profiles on a discovery 2 I would of thought the would put them on a landrover is a go anywhere vehicle but not with low profiles there not.

funny nearly the same as I put on my D3 , 235/70/ 17 , fitted a set of cooper AT/3

that will be interesting to listen to it going up the road with an individual 20 inch tyre , lol

pic looks about right for a 40 sidewall , ruined

hit the nail on the head, basically ruins the discos capabilities by fitting low profiles, also if driving on sand u won’t have anything left by the time you’ve let the tyres down by a small amount

This is the tread on mine, didn’t want an over aggressive tyre for the road

plus hope he tells his insurance company , might not like the mod and refuse it

Yea that's a decent size tyre u cant let air out of a low profile incase u hit a rock and smash the rim.
That's mine you cant really see the tyres that well but they are definitely not low profiles

Yea the sad thing about this lad who has got low profiles he has just spent £140 a tyre on some general grabbers ats I only paid £200 for a set of 5.

Ouch, more money than sense , just think could blow them all in one day after hitting a few pot holes , or hit a kerb when parking

blimey that was a bargain, think I paid around £550 for a set of 5
