2 things...

1) i see there is a button to the left of the dash pod with a petrol sign on it... is this to open the petrol cap ? because it dose nothing.

2) where local to me (NG16 4FX) is there a good RR brakers yard?

Yes it is. Either the plug has come off it, or someone has forgotten to put it on when they had the binnacle off or the switch is faulty.

Have you got your battery sorted??

Yes new Battery brought yesterday, told them the make and model and there it was £64.59. the button gose all the way down when i press for the petrol lid like theres nothing under it, it dose spring back up though.

not tried with key out but will do now. do you know the name of the brakers or post code or phone number? thank's.

took key out and whoooop whoooop it opens. lot of air went in as i opned the cap though, must have a blockage or cos it's never been open for a long time as its LPG too.
