HI!

I have recently ordered a 2" suspension lift, it includes:

four Bearmach Blue H/D springs; +2" Pro Comp ES9000 or Tuff Back gas shock absorbers; a pair of front castor correction arms; a pair of heavy duty cranked rear trailing arms; front and rear dislocation cones; a pair of heavy duty galvanised front tubular turrets; a set of stainless steel extended brake hoses; a pair of front turret rings and four heavy duty spring retainers.

now i have recently heard of people who have had vibrations coming from the propshaft after a kit has been fitted, why is this?. I was just wondering before i fit it, am i going to have this trouble with the parts supplied? if not i think the only way around it is a wider yoke CV joint or something???? PLEASE HELP!!

Cheers

Max

ive recently fitted just 2" pro comp shocks and springs havnt done radius or castor arms yet as need sum more cash first. Havnt experience much in the way of new vibrations. Only a slight one when in too hi a gear if tht makes sence. :p am thinkin of puttting on wider yoke prop shafts bt they are expensive

not being very good at maths I have read on here and various forums that the castor corrected arms can actually make things worse. something to do with rotating the swivel housings etc. Its very confusing and I dont fully understand it, best search yourself.

With what you have ordered, I would test it first and see. The only thing you are likely to need (as stated above) is a wide yoke prop or double decardon prop. Only the front should be adversly effected, so just replace that. If you got problems with the rear binding then you got major problems!

Fit it 1st and see.

a more elegant solution to the castor correction are the castor corrected swivel balls but they are not cheap, as it has been said wide angle or double cardigan (lol) props are the way forward if you find you are getting binding on your ujs

i have the bearmach blue springs and tuffback shocks 2" lift no extended pipes no caster correction no different props.its been on a year now and is faultless no vibrations no untoward wear on props or ujs..cant fault it

cheers for the replies people, its helped loads already, I will probably buy a double decarbon front prop just in case!

BUT, and its a fine well rounded BUT! i have a deadline of the 26th of this month, as me and a few mates in other cars intend to do stannage edge and chapel gate in derbyshire. Now if i get the kit fitted in time, how quickly does it take for front shafts to start "binding" can i drive down to derbyshire, do a weekends laning and drive home again without too many problems, i can cope with worn CV joints, but is this all that would happen? I too am now oficially broke so i cant afford a new front prop just yet. i just want to get the weekend of the 26th out the way without having to get a recovery truck to bring me home lol!

Yes ok I`m a stuffy 0ld arse BUT why [appearences aside] do you need a 2" lift? My old ex_M.O.D. 110 has done most of the exciting lanes in GB as it left the factory. As "they" say if it aint broke dont fix it??!!

what can i say im 18 and like working on my landy! thats probably the main reason in fact, just for something to do. i too have done a good few lanes around, but with you saying if it aint broke dont fix it, i guess another reason for the lift is the last thing i want is it to break the poor old girl. think of it more like protection instead of enhancement. saying that it will look cool aswell

My Disco has a 2 inch lift and no castor correction arms. The transfer box end UJ wear quicker then it used to, but I get no vibration and no binding problems.

My advice would be not to fit the front arms and see how it drives. LRs are not build to very fine tolerances and you may find that you don't need any castor correction or different prop shafts at all.

Further to the above :) ......swivels or axle casing are the proper ways to correct the castor. The front prop shaft that you may or may not need depends upon the vibration that you are getting. Some vibration is due to the yokes 'clashing' due to the high angle they are now working at some is due to the fact that the ends of the prop shaft are no longer parallel.
