I have read past posts but I woud still like to ask...As my 1999 TD5 Disco,s power steering box needs topping up up a lot lately.. Where is a decent place to buy a new pump ? Plus how much do they cost ? Also How difficult are they to fit ? And will "Dexron 111" ATF be cheaper than L/R PS.Fluid..So this is really an update so to speak.. I REALLY Dont know how L/R have been aloud for over 40 years to fit such a crappy power steering pump.

you sure it is the pump that is leaking,on my disco td5 it was the p/steering pipes that had rusted through.just under the radiator.

I will have a proper look underneath later on.But When it had its mOT last year the tester did make a comment about some oil leak on the side of the engine towards the front passenger side.So I just assumed it would be the pump,As my luck when things happen its always the expensive part that need repairing.

When I first got my D2, I also had a leak at the PAS pump. There was so much cr@p all over the place that I couldn't pinpoint the source until I'd powerhosed the front of the engine off...

In my case the leak was just the jubilee clip holding the lower hose that was loose - worth checking for that before buying a new pump etc ;)
