Hi. I'm looking at lifting my 2000 TD5 by 2". Should I use spacers or springs? Apart from spacers being the cheaper option, what are the advantages and disadvantages? What make should I use? And if I go for spacers, should I go for replacing the standard shocks and springs? The car has 102K on the clock, but appears to drive fine. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark.

i will personaly go for spacers and get the 2" lowered turrets as standar springs and shocks are cheeper than the extended ones when you have to replace them

It really all depends on the "final" plan, for example, if your going to fit a heavy winch bumper and maybe a winch later on, your factory springs at the age they are will have sagged considerably, and adding the extra weight will just increase the sag a lot to the point where you will loose up to 1" of your lift.

So "consider" heavy duty springs as an option depending on what you intend to do, spacers work no probs, and as said are cheaper, but you have to look to the future as well as you would not want heavy duty lift springs + your spacers if you decide later on to change the springs.

Having done the rear springs/shocks +40mm on my D2 last weekend...I would deffinitely replace the shocks too. I didnt originally get the shocks....but decided sod it and to go for them and afterall and what a difference they made!!
Well worth it IMO.

yes like wise when i lift her ill get new springs and shocks as i dont know how much is left in them, while you lifting the old girl it makes sence to do, you can then keep a spring and shock incase one goes you have a spare at home to get you out the poo if you use it as a dailey runner

Thanks for all the advice. Think I'll go for +2 inch HD Springs and new shocks on the front, with 2 inch spacers and original rear air springs on the back.

I have 2" HD springs & shocks on the front, 2" shocks on the back with bags with 2" spacers that the bags sit on.
My stock shocks were poo with the lift-defo change them.
Remember that spacers will not increase articulation, only height to allow a bigger tyre-you need to convert to coils to achieve that. But if you keep the bags, you still have the ability to go the extra height with the off road setting.
Whatever you do -DONT be tempted to go over the standard inflation of the bags to gain height...BAD news

Many will disagree but, you will throw UJ's if they are old when you do this. Remember you're changing the working angle that the UJ's have run at for however many miles.
I changed my rear UJ & donut & fitted an extended travel front prop with wide yokes.
I have also had to put spacers on the gearbox cross member...your prop will drop onto it if left untouched & could cause damage with the axle weight pulling it down.

Youll also need extended bump stops, or space those too.
It drives fine on & off road with this set up, I know a couple of people who run it...although there will be people who tell you youll need correction arms...possibly but i have no need at the moment.
