I am in the process of giving my Disco a 2" lift. I was just wondering wether to remove the front and rear anti-roll bars ? any advise ?

Having recently driven discos with and without anti roll bars I would say unless you're wanting serious axle articulation leave em on. The road handling is a lot worse without em.

yes but if you've gone to effort of a 2" lift your not fussed about road manners, if you're not planning to use it as a motorway cruiser dump em.

Took mine off for a month or so and off-road it was much better ... more articulation, more supple, just easier to get on with and a better feel.

On-road was crap by about the same amount. Towing wasn't bad, I guess the tow-weight acted like a damper and obviously speed was restricted slightly. Solo on duals and motorways it was reasonable to poor .. depended mostly on the wind direction!! Town driving and twisty roads hard to tell difference, other than more body roll.

Offroad: Alot better with them off, more articulation.

Onroad: Very scary @ 70 with a side wind. Handles like an old chevy, probably worse.

From personal experience, my old Disco handled like ****e on road after I removed the anti roll bars (improved it no end off of it), but you do alter your driving style to compensate. Try yours without them, see what you think - if you don't like it, put them back on.
Easy bit of rocket science that. :p

And don't forget to tell your insurance company what you do.

The anti roll bars are standard fit and if you remove them you will technically speaking still be modifying the vehicle.

Tell them everything you alter from standard spec - don't give them the chance to welch out should you ever need to make a claim ;)

Thanks for the replies. I think we are going to stick with them for the moment, although we will be making some extensions to the mounts to put them back in line after the lift. Will let you know how we get on..

only problem i've had with leaving them on is after off roading the ARB can get stuck with one side up an the other down, an it handles like ****e when it happens an scrubs ya tyres and not to mention puts the disco on the pi#s

read this thread, it took me ages to work out what was happening and it was only when i posted piccys of it on here that some nice person pointed it out, just so you know what to keep an eye on when you've been off road

oh btw last time i went off road BOTH ball joints went to the top of the axle.

Yup had the same problem with the rear ARB here too (now removed) ............... remove it is my advice as it is more dangerous left in place than removed from my experience

Well the lift is all done and it became obvious that leaving the anti roll bars on, will be an issue when we get into some serious articulation. However, the old girl still needs to be used for trips up the road, so the decision was made to keep them on. However we will be fitting some spacers to the brackets to bring them back into line.

Phase 2 - de-cat , intercooler and pump tweak !

Well going from my experiences, its going to give you an extra 1". :D
But seriously though, any extra clearance will help, coupled with some larger dia tyres and your ready to go.
