You'll be ok if ya just go about 4 and a half yards...

I done shocks and springs with extended bump stops. I've not hit the bump stops as yet though I've not been off road either.

Still have to put the extended brake lines on and had no problem so far either... but again..I've not been off road yet.

I'll add bits as and when I find I need them. rear prop to get rid of the rubber donut is next for me.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I too am looking at lift options without taking it too far.

I read an article this morning that inferred on changing the springs only for 2" lift HD springs yet retaining the original shocks.

I'm guessing this is someone talking out their bum cheeks as I can see no sense in this what so ever.

I want to achieve greater articlulation more than anything and stand more chance of wheels being on the deck when the vehicle gets into all kinds of weird angles.

Thanks.

All 2" springs do is raise the vehicle, it will not allow any extra movement on the suspension, all that will happen is the shocks will hit their limit 2" sooner, in fact it will be a negative as all you are doing is increasing your center of gravity with no other advantage.

For greater articulation you will need +2" shocks to bring you back to normal articulation leves and then +2" dropped shock mounts to drop the shocks down further (so you have +4" total, 2" for the extra springs and 2" worth of extra droop)

You will also need the cones and brake lines minimum, without it the springs will have trouble and you will stretch your brake lines. Idealy you also want to get 2" bumpstops (takes the strees off the shocks) and cranked trailing arms, look at the kits I posted earlier in the thread, that has pictures and an explenation of whats what.

OK so need to go the whole 9 yards with dis cones, extended brake lines and bump stops too hey?

Just on a side note, there's a guy locally selling the full setup used and offering to fit it at extra...when I asked how much to fit as I only have a parking spot at the back at my place...he said £30 an hour and it's a days work to fit it all. He taking the pee? I've done full suspension to coilover swaps, admittedly on VW's in a couple of hours...

I'll trial fit the new wheels tomorrow and see what the crack is before I get carried away with lifts...

I fitted my kit in about 4 hours, remember it involves changing all the brake lines and also making a modification to the trailing arm mounts. The beauty with discos is if any bolt are siezed you just snap them and replace, there are no captive nuts to worry about, makes life alot easier...

:D do we have a new pet retard?

See when you're angry can we call you the griffmonster and throw things at you from a distance while you sit there crying and swearing because you're too much of a ****ebag to defend yourself?
