2.7tdv6 oil pump failure

hi went to start my rrs 2.7 and the oil pump failed taking the timing belt out this happened on start up put new belt and pump on now its backfiring through the airbox has anybody removed the heads with body on or will it be an easier job removing it thanks

i removed starter locked the flywheel cams where locked in to place turned it over by hand a couple of times went to start it and all i get is a like a banging sound through the airbox

Usually fecks the engine completly the oil pump is a known fault replaced with a modified type.

Sounds like you have a bent valve or two, people have just replaced the head/s and gotten away with it, sounds like you might be an ideal candidate as failure happed at a standstill.

Hi mate as above expect bent valves because it happened on start up you hopefully will get away with head re-build usually guides and valves or a replacement head good luck

Bent one valve and smashed a few rockers had both heads done built back up starts but ticks over for about 10 seconds and stalls tried bleeding fuel system full of air every time has anybody else had the same problem thanks
