Hi My Discovery 3 2.7 tdv6 when first started or left for a few hours and then re started has a slight timing chain rattle for maybe 2 seconds. I understand that the chain tensioner relies on oil pressure to fully come up to tension. Is this something i should be concernd about. If so how muchnof a big job is it to replace the chain and tensioners or what sort of price should i be looking at to have these replace

How many miles on the engine? Normally the timing chain doesn't start making noise until the engine has done more than 150k miles or so.

It's very common for them to rattle for a second or so, once the engine has done a good mileage.

There are a couple of causes, but identifying the cause is critical, if you want it fixed.
I put up with mine rattling for a couple of years, then decided to replace the chains and tensioners a few months before deciding to sell the vehicle.
The causes for this issue can be a worn oil pump, but it's more common for the timing chains to simply stretch in use, as the tensioner is always applying considerable pressure on the chain.
Best bet is to have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical pressure gauge. If the pressure check shows no issues, then you can decide if you want to go ahead and replace the chains and tensioners. However if you're planning on getting rid of the vehicle in the near future, I'd not bother, as it's a labour intensive job to have done, unless you can DIY.
