hi guys, i have just recently brought a 2.6 six pot series 3 and i think i needs a rebuild at some point, and so its going to get it! but i know where to get everything else, rings, shells, and valves and head gaskets, sump gaskets and thermostat, but i cant find valve stem oil seals! does anyone know if the 2.25 ones fit?? iv never had one appart, and just want to pick someone's brains if they know! thanks guys, Tom!

yea i think they are the same engine, but they are always compared to the 2.25 as they were in the land rover, so they are referred to as ''similar'' but they arnt! i just wondered if the seals were the same or similar, but i will have a look over the net. thankyou.

I have had two Rover P 4 cars, overhead inlet side valve exhaust. Both cars really smooth to drive and both a little thirsty.

Essentially the same 2625cc lump as the Rover P4 100, which in itself is a short stroke P5 3ltr, detuned for the LR application. A lovely smooth engine with bags of low-down torque & tuneful exhaust note BUT never a great success in the working environment of Land Rovers. They were prone to exhaust valve problems & high oil consumption - I had one in an ex AA 12 seat safari back in the late 'eighties.
