2.5td to range rover classic

Hi guys wonder if you can help? My challenge truck has killed its V8 I'm wondering would a defender 2.5td not TDi would this fit onto a range rover classic gearbox?

That's the plan to rebuild! It's knocking majorly as it's thrashed a lot! It's burns more oil than petrol haha new rings new head gasket new big end bearings full service and tune up that's the plan! It sounds awesome I just prefer a diesel for wading!

Blimey... if it's that bad then it may require machining? Not sure though, once you pull it apart you'll know. Might be easier to get an okay known engine and rebuild that instead?

Pull it out then, and when you do, plenty of pictures!

Of course! I'm hoping it's not too bad! We shall see

You would have to change the bell housing and input shaft to a 200tdi disco one,and move the engine mounts to make it fit
