Yep sealed the pipe(s) up . Boost pressure went up a little to maybe .55 Bar then engine faltered and lost power, for maybe 10 secs then picked up and repeated till eventually cut out with plenty air in injector pump. Strange that if I drive slowly 35-40 mph no air at injector pump .

boost pressure is fed to the pump id look there

The little plastic pipe connects the boost housing to the boost diaphragm setup on the bottom of the IP.

If the diaphragm is split or missing it could be forcing air from the turbo into the pump.

If you, can, find a plug and a copper washer to seal up the intake on the boost housing which is marked AIR. If the air is coming in via the boost housing that should seal it completely.

As I posted earlier, the turbo only boosts under high throttle openings and rising revs, so slow driving might not force air down the pipe.

Changed the Diaphragm , yes it was shot . So that's stopped the air entering the injector pump. Whoop whoop ... thanks everyone who helped ... It now gets to a blistering 60 with a long run up . Is that my lot or can the injector pump be tweaked to get some more Mph ? Any suggestions ?

Set the tappets, change the fuel and air filters, check hoses for internal collapse.Injector service sometimes helps. You might get it up to seventy or a bit more. They were never spectacular performers. Its a Land Rover! :)
