iv been trying to get to the bottom of my loss of power in my 110td, just occured to me that the fuel pump could be on its way out? never had one fail before so im wanting to know from anyone who has , what symtoms did you get? did you get a loss in performance and general gutlessness over a period of time or did it go very quickly?

cheers. j

Yeah they just sort of die, can happen slowly or instantly if a bit of dirt gets into the system. You can get cutting out issues, or it just becomes gutless and won't pull or go fast.

All these pumps need is cleaning out and new o rings sometimes, thats all a "recon" is.

Hi
you got any details on how to do that 'little' job. or can i find it in the workshop manual?

doesnt the pump have a diaphragm like the old series pumps? might be worth pulling it off and having a clean out etc. have to admit for the price i might just replace it with new one.
im glad you confirm the performance issue fella, been scratching my head a bit as the engine seems pretty healthy. in fact noticed over last couple of days its got slightly worse!

anyone know if a lecky pump will work? just found a brand new facet pump on the shelf in shed, must be from me old rangie and never fitted.

cheers. j

Are you talking about the injection pump or lift pump?

If its the lift pump then, to test it, take the out pipe off or undo the bleed screw on the filter head and give the lever a little wiggle, does diesel spill out? (make sure it is off cam or it won't).

Regarding working on the injection pump, the workshop manual will say "Consult Lucas dealer". Google has some good guides people have made.
