please can anyone tell me if there are any other vehicles i could get an alternator off in the scrapyard that would fit my 110 2.5td 19j bit stuck and scrap yard is my best bet thanks for any help

2.5 na one will definitely fit, the alternator is probably fitted on other vehicles too, but I don't know exactly which ones. There will be a plate on the alternator with specs and ratings. You could physically check the alternator against others at the scrappy, but probably easier would be to write down the serial number, and see if you can find what vehicles it was used on off the net. Google is your friend.

They can be easily rebuilt, can buy bits from Paddocks and other suppliers.
Dont know what a scrappy charges but just bought a brand new one for £43 + VAt and parts to rebuild the old one (brush set, regulator and rectifier plate) for about £12

Mines a 110 2.5 N/A these use a 45A unit probably same as 19J and many others, as the 65A unit was only fitted on later models and ones with aircon

+1 I was going to say I only paid about 65 quid incl.for a recon, but he seemed dead set on the scrapyard route.

thanks people just been out under the 110 in the rain pulled the alternator looking at the brushes and they look filthy not connecting to the spindle now of to fleebay to try and get repair kit ,can i clean the old ones or are they worn out need to rig something for the morning they look very short . if i charge battery and put it back on i might just get time to go to the scrappy see if they got anything ,thinking about it i might aswell hang on for bits to come from fleebay the alternator feels a bit lose and wobbly would this be normal? sod it if they are about 65 quid the overdraft should just about stretch end of the month soon get paid again

Sounds like your bearings / thrust washers are worn, so I reckon get a new one, a scrap one may just be that...scrap if ya keeping the motor worth fitting new one, but a brush kit is less than £3 as a stop gap!
