sorry for the strange question, but does anyone know the location of the coolant temperature sensor on a 2.5L turbo diesel J19? Bought this one in France and the wiring has been removed. The water hoses get hot but the gauge stays pinned to cold. The sensor is not on the thermostat housing and not visible on the cylinder head so I suspect it has been removed and the hole plugged.

I looked. Everything is plugged up. Any suggestions what to do?

Fourth from back of the head, unscrew it and screw in a sender, attach the wire to the contact on the sender.
Thanks Turboman. Have you ever seen a stud/nut screwed in to the head like this before? It looks like two pieces and nothing like the brass sensor.

Thanks. I’ll try to unscrew all of it and putting in a new adaptor and then the new sensor. It looks like the adaptor is installed but they screwed in and cut off a bolt in the sensor hole to blank it.
