Hello

I've just purchased an M Reg Range Rover 2.5 DT (115k mileage) - it drives really well and is a great car. Is there any common problems I should look out for - someone mentioned to me that air suspension could be a problem on this model and expensive.

Any feedback would be great - thank you.

Wow, can of worms!!!

Air Suspension especially Valve Block is expensive to fix. BeCM (Load of electronics controlling security etc) can fail, heating and air con can cause grief as control motors are buried under the dash so 12 hours labour to fit a £60 part, not fun.

Look at radiator, gearing system. The low range should be working well, but not too expensive to fix.

Do a search on this forum for someone looking at buying one and it goes into a lot more detail.

Cheers

Hi Beanbag, the air suspension can be a bit problematic but provided you have some mechanical ability and are willing to get your hands dirty it shouldn't be a problem. Parts are available some bits are cheap some not so, but ebay is your friend...

Below is a link to an American site that has all the info including faults and repair info for a P38 (2.5 DT), you need to look at the 4.0/4.6 section for your vehicle (the 2.5 DT wasn't imported into the USA so is not listed).

There is also a free software program for a computer that allows you to read/clear the fault codes and to adjust/reset suspension heights if you have to change any height sensors. The special connector lead for the computer can be purchased for about 20.00 GBP delivered.

If you use the search function above for 'Rave CD' you can download the manuals and parts lists for your vehicle.

Software info: Range Rover EAS Reset Tools

Thanks zzr for your feedback - really useful and I will certainly look at the site you mentioned and download the software.

There is an independent Land/Range Rover garage only a small garage but very helpful, in between Bexhill and Hastings, on the coast road somewhere around St Leonards on the left hand side as you travel to-wards Hastings, just can't remember the name (someone here might know?).
