well the new head is on and torqued down. RAVE now say to refit the camchain tensioner & camchain guide. BUT the guide will not go fully back down into place so I can't get the bolts through
Is there some trick to this, do I have to fit the tensioner first to pull the chain & make way for the guide ?
It almost goes down far enough, but I can see the lower hole fits into a hole in the head and it won't quite get down any further as it keeps hitting something at the bottom. So after trying for an hour & a half I have decided to give up for today

All advice gratefully recieved:eek:

Yes, I use the special tool to lever the tensioner down & inserted the pin. I still have the pin in place holding the tensioner (not yet put back in). Can't work out why the guide won't slip down far enough

Just though of a possible work around. If I can remove the guide I could saw off a few mm from the bottom, that should do it. At least I will be able to bolt it into place.

hi there carnt under stand y it wont go in .but that mite work as long as you dont cut two much of mine went in strat away sume times you have to levit and triy later and it mite go strat in with a bit of look just make shoor the chan asent moved like mine did and had to take the timing cover of front the engine to set hall the time back up becous the fip sprocket had moved so the dimpel was of to the left by a inch and not at tdc

It's in now. On removing I found there were 'prongs' on the bottom so obviously they needed to be located over some sort of bar. I just lined it up then pushed a bit harder and it went into place - phew

Sorry Kev100s I can't. I set the TDC as per RAVE & made sure cam lobes were flat & upwards then locked the crankshaft in place. I also marked everything with white lines so I could make sure of alignment when it all went back. SO I didn't both with counting the holes - not much help I'm afraid.
