This is my first post, so sorry if I break any forum rules, and also sorry if this question has been asked many times before! I did do a search, honest.

Just wondering if there is a clear cut answer to "should I be putting mineral or synthetic oil in my 1988 Landy 90, 2.5D Turbo?" I really need to replace the filter and oil as I don't know when it was last done.

Also, until I get around to doing the oil change, as I don't know what type of oil is already in there, will I cause problems if I top-up with synthetic and it turns out there was mineral in there before, or visa versa?

Cheers
Rob

put mineral oil in, if you put synthetic in it will only blow past the rings of a worn engine, many posts on here about oil discussions, I use just the cheapest 15-40 oil in my 90 - Disco

Thanks guys. So it sounds as though I'm not going to harm it by doing a bit of mix and match between the two types, but that at the end of the day the mineral is going to do the job, and is cheaper!

Thanks
Rob
