I was actually quite shocked today at the clean oil, I've just come back from touring Ireland with that oil.
Don't forget to change filtre as well and let old oil drain while you have a good brew.

A little Paraffin was the flushing medium of choice back in the day.

Your first one to ever mention it to me - be the first to YouTube it! It’s good idea but it’s ticking over with white diesel mixture as we speak (type)

I have to stick with what I know given the circumstance and poll suggestions have swayed me.

There is a lot of duff info on Youtube, the last one I saw was a method of removing the swivels on a P38.
ATF is evil stuff and highly flammable.

Morris Navigator boat engine ran on Paraffin. Warmed up on petrol then switch to Paraffin when hot.

I had one of them. 1952 TED 'Little Grey Fergy'. Ran on TVO - Tractor Vapourising Oil. It became harder to get and then the accepted replacement was 4:1, heating oil to petrol.
You just had to make sure it was properly warmed up before switching over. There was a dual fuel tank with a two way tap. Fuel consumption was 2 to 3 times better on TVO.
I still have a petrol one - a TEA. Just put new front tyres on it yesterday and cut all the verges.(An ex council 3 blade rotary cutter, comes off the PTO)
It is 7:1 compression, the TED 8:1 but the TEA will run on TVO substitute just as well. Again, you've just got to warm it up properly.

We had an old TE20 and Fordson major with roadless wheels when I was a kid. Both were TVO but we had to ‘mix’ our own as it wasn’t available. Can’t remember what we used? They are still there parked up

It’s been so long since I’ve handled white, normally just goes straight in the tank. Seems more additives than derv compared to what I remember

Yeah, it used to be greasy on your fingers. Now it is almost like petrol.

Yes can ATF be used instead of -white detergent rich diesel- for this exact purpose I s what I am trying to decide

I've got a v8 4.6 as well it's the nature of the beast,detergent oil if ,black,is doing its job.the next v8 will be a 4.4 diesel.

I seem to recall the old book on my 2A said it would run on TVO which is why the carburettor has a fuel heater on it

Thst was the fuel it ran on not what was in the sump surely

but still has lub oil in the sump, worked on one today,whatever it runs on it still needs oil in the sump.
