I know this response isnt going to help you much but thought i should tell you land rover no longer have any of the oil filter for thatt engine as we purchased apparently the last one that land rover have well according to their computer system you are prob best looking at what other cars had the engine in. As for oil we used 15w40 mineral turbo diesel oil

Try yacht chandlers, industrial engine suppliers etc:eek:

Old ford garanda had the VM fitted as did the Jeep cherokee and gran cherokee and voyagers.
Plenty of part avaliable for them.
My mate works on these all the time so if you need it ill get his work number for you.
Hes in Chesterfield so dont know if thats any good.

actually..the vm engine is rather good...better than the tdi...they do a 6cylinder version too if you can find one..

but..but..the cooling sytem has to be good...very good..make sure rad is flushed and new antifreeze/summer coolent is added..

hi mate
