Well after some dithering and with the help of a broken cambelt on the old sherpa lump that it came with, I decided to stick the 19j out of my old 110 into my 109. Not a difficult conversion but enough messy little fiddly bits to make me wish I hadn't started a few times. Anyhow drove it for the first time with the new lump today and I'm pretty impressed.

Don't you just luv that, you spend day and night cursing and throwing spanners at it and then in that one moment when you drive away it's all forgotten:D

Nice one, What problems did you have in fitting it? Might rebuild my 19J, stick it in my S3 and a 200 in the 110... Hmm :D

The 19J had a undeserved reputation imo, It is not really a bad engine. You have just got to know how to drive them and not expect to much! Only reason i want a 200 is mine is breathing fairly badly.

No real problems just a few fiddly bits really. The driver's side engine mount had to be changed, throttle linkage had to be messed about with, I changed the thermostat housing so that the series top hose would fit straight on, had to sort the exhaust as the td downpipe went straight into the crossmember under the gearbox, etc. Wiring went straight on, fuel pipes went straight on once I'd moved the filter across to the driver's side, moved battery to under the passenger seat but it won't fit so it's on the floor in the cab till I get round to altering the seatbox bottom. Put a new clutch in and new pipework from master to slave cylinders. Sure there's more but can't remember at the mo.
