Hello, quick questions as in the title: the PO of my new purchase - early '80s 2.5 petrol 90 CSW - removed the viscous fan and shroud and put an electric (haven't checked make) one behind the rad, cable tie bobbie. There is a ? thermostat and dial in the engine bay and I can't find any overdue switch in the cab.
So far its run fine, temp gauge below 1/2 rising to 1/2 on a long steep hill in hardly moving rush hour traffic.
There is also a rad muff on the grille.....
My personal feeling is to dump the electric fan and put a viscous fan and shroud back on just as LR intended, and also to remove the muff.
Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.

Thanks chaps, you've confirmed my thoughts; I assume you mean put back the viscous fan and shroud. Very rarely go wading and if I think I'm going too, prepare for it.
What about the muff....again I think dump it, it's hardly arctic on the south coast.

Remove electric fan, replace viscous and shroud. I don't think it is a problem for wading, provided you don't plough in at silly speeds. I don't like wading anyway, it ruins your axles and rots your chassis.

Thank you both for your time and comments. Very friendly and helpful here, been lurking for a while. In the past I frequented ORRP, a bit of a rough playground at times, but some knowledgeable folk too.
PS How do you 'like' a post?

No worries, mate. Like button bottom RHS of post, next to quote and reply.

No idea what ORPP is, sorry. I don't do forums, apart from lz.

ORRP - Off Roaders Rant Page; still going but hardly any activity; haven't bothered to sign up. I'm more interested in a technical forum than a social forum.
Got it. Should have gaunt Supersavers....

No idea what ORPP is either. Has anyone answered his muff question? Perhaps the PO was trying to raise the temperature from the heater by removing the viscous fan and putting the muffler in. If you're not worried about getting cold, take it out.

Should have gaunt Supersavers.... ?????? Amazing autocorrect here, I typed "Should have gone to Specsavers"...!
PO was a lady, maybe she liked the muff....
